“Here’s your pay for today’s work!”
“Ugh…”
The honey badger accepted the payment from the cheerful lion whose smile was enough to give Les chills down his spine.
“I added a bonus in there so get something nice to eat!” The lion detective winked at him and in return Les gave a look of utter disgust.
“If it ain’t meat, it ain’t nice,” Les grunted stuffing the money into his baggy sweatpants. The ‘Meat’ he was referring to was the Back Alley ‘meat’. He had run out the night before so the withdrawals were going to set it if he didn’t have his fix.
“I’m sorry Lessie, I can’t give you that type of payment till the end of the month.” The lion shook his head. “It’s a good time to try to ease the addiction, don’t cha think!”
Les just stared on with disgruntled eyes.
“I’ll fucking murder your ass..”
The lion just gave a smile that just screamed: “try me.” Honey badgers generally don’t have the strength to kill a full-grown lion alone but the prospect of trying sounded like a pain. With that, Leslie shut the door behind him.
Approaching the ramen stall of the carnivore district, he took out the money he was giving. Ramen was his usual treat so to speak. It’s not going to help with onsets of withdrawals but overall it’s at least going to keep him full for the night.
“Hey old man, give me extra-large, extra firm noodles, a couple of extra eggs will ya?”
The old man simply nodded and started to cook. The stall was slow given that it was close to midnight. Les yawned taking out his textbooks as he propped up his glasses on his face. He generally didn’t pay attention in class and opted to sleep through lectures instead because of his “night activities.”
“Here ya go kid. I added some bean rolls on the house.”
The bowl was place before Les. Coming forth and falling backdown, the soup was steaming hot while the noodles settled down in the comically large bowl.
“Thanks.”
He picked up his chopsticks and started to eat, slurping the noodles but paying mind to his textbooks next to him. Studying was a hobby of his. The Back Alley didn’t have the normal entertainment and with his house being poor, the cheapest he had were the school books he got for free.
